My New Reading Group

I went through with my idea for my reading group. It's still really rough around the edges and there are only a few members so far but we're already voting for March's group read and there is a lot to choose from!

6 WORD MEMIOR MEME

J. Kaye tagged me for this memior meme:

Here are the meme rules:

1. Write your own six word memoir.
2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
4. Remember to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!

My six word memoir should be:

I will read till I die

Here's a visual quote that expands on my memior:

Please do this meme if you haven't already!

Reading Group Idea

I’d like to start a Yahoo reading group similar to the ones I'm in where the group will discuss 1 or two books month that were made into movies. I’ve noticed how much I enjoy seeking out the films after I read a book that inspired a movie or TV series. Does this sound like something anybody would be interested in? I’m in a lot of online groups and I’m a moderator for two of them but I don’t know the first thing about putting a group together...

BTT-Format

All other things (like price and storage space) being equal, given a choice in a perfect world, would you rather have paperbacks in your library? Or hardcovers? And why?

I used to be mainly a paperback fan but I've found over time I'm more fond of hardback books... just not their prices! Paperbacks are so much easier to accidently damage, especially the spine and it drives me nuts!

Blah

Sorry I haven’t really been around lately. I’ve been reading a lot, mainly Charlaine Harris’ Aurora Teagarden series and working on my online reading groups since I’ve recently become a moderator for another one: The Bookcrossing Reading Group. We’re currently reading the first book called Real Murders in the series I spoke of above.

I have been pretty good at keeping up with the blogs I visit daily though and I’ve been working on some new posts for my other blogs. I finally got up The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh! I found some great videos too, one that was included on the original VHS release. Right now I’m hard at work trying to make myself work on my post for Once Bitten, Twice Shy since I’m over 20 posts behind (I read almost too much this month!).

My IP Morning

Hope everyone had a fabulous Valentine's Day! Hubby and I really didn't do all that much but he took me out to eat at the Imperial Palace Casino's breakfast buffet this morning. My god it was good!

Delicious flaky pastries, eggs, french toast, omelettes made how you like them right in front of you, delicious fresh fruit (including cherries!!!) , mmm I had a ball. Admittedly, the bacon was gross and so were the cheese grits but that's my only complaint.

I got to meet my husband's boss who told Darren about the breakfast in the first place (who looked nothing like I pictured him lol) and a few of his co-workers. Then we won $65 on the slots and when we left I got to see Loretta Lynn's tour bus. How cool is that?! Now I'm just wishing I would have had my camera :(

Library Love Month Meme

How do you plan on celebrating Library Lovers’ month?
I didn't know anything about it but I'll probably bake cookies for my librarians again. They deserve it!

How often do you accidentally spell library as ‘libary’ when you’re in a hurry?
Lol! I used to pronounce library like 'libary' when I was little until someone corrected me and ever since then I've made sure to say and spell it correctly.

What is the longest you’ve ever gone without visiting the library?
Oh before I moved down here I hardly ever went. I've always liked owning my own books and that was before I discovered this book blogging community as well as my online reading groups so there really was no need. Since then though I go (or hubby does for me) once or twice a week at least.

What is the biggest fine you’ve ever had?
I had a $15 fine once or maybe my mom did? I can't remember but I haven't had over a $1 fine in a long time.

When you go to the library, do you plan ahead and make a list? Or do you browse?
I order my books through the library website catalog. I hardly ever browse the library unless there is a line, just pick up what I ordered or have hubby do it.

Have you ever been shushed or hushed by a librarian?
Nope. Libraries are quiet places! Besides I'm usually on good terms with my librarians or else I find another library.

What is the worst (against-the-rules) thing you’ve ever done in the library?
Can't say I've ever done anything bad in a library before lol.

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done to a library book?
Lost it!

Have you ever had a “favorite” librarian?
Oh of course! When I was in middle school I volunteered in the library because the librarian was more like a friend than an "adult". Once I moved down here and started using this library I've had several favorites because the ladies are so nice! Then I moved a town over and tried using the local library (it's the same system) but everyone was so rude I just decided to keep going to the one I know.

If you could change one thing about your library it would be…
The layout. It could look so much better and more inviting. I wish the computer people had their own seperate little room too.

I tag all library users!

New Favorite Song

I discovered this song at the end of The Looking Glass Wars audiobook by Frank Beddor. I don't know what the video is from (doesn't that girl look like Mac from Veronica Mars though?) but the song is by Hypnogaja. It's great!

BTT-But, Enough About Books

Okay, even I can’t read ALL the time, so I’m guessing that you folks might voluntarily shut the covers from time to time as well… What else do you do with your leisure to pass the time? Walk the dog? Knit? Run marathons? Construct grandfather clocks? Collect eggshells?

I mainly play on the computer visiting other blogs, etc but I'm also a movie buff so I'm usually watching one when I'm not reading.

ToT- Things You Can Do Instead of Watching TV

Since the Hollywood writer’s strike, I have been watching less and less TV and now the television isn’t as important as it used to be. With the lack of new episodes, (and sometimes I even skip the new ones!) I have found other things to do…
  1. Read of course!
  2. Work on more blog posts
  3. Watch some of the TV seasons I got for Christmas
  4. Visit blog buddies more often
  5. Clean, not very fun but it still needs to be done
  6. Finally scan those pictures I borrowed from my mom
  7. Organize my book and DVD shelves
  8. Join another online reading group
  9. Work on the reading group I'm a mod for more often
  10. Put together more of my mp3 player playlists

I've Been Tagged!

OneLuvGurl tagged me for a meme this morning:

5 reasons I love/hate the Groundhog after listing 5 reasons (no rules in listing reasons), tag 5 people plus giving credit to the tagger.

1. We get cute characters like Pardon-Me-Pete.
2. Some people get out of school (at least down here, but that may be because of Mardi Gras)
3. It's a celebration no matter how you look at it and I love celebrations
4. That creature is kind of cute
5. I had to learn how to pronounce Punxsutawney :(

Hmm... there are a few people I wouldn't mind tagging for this but they've all been pretty busy lately so whoever has a chance, consider yourself tagged!

Mercy Me

Yay for me! I'm finally getting up off my lazy bum and posting! Moon Called by Patricia Briggs is finally up and I'm going to start on my Blood Bound post tonight. Then I need to work on reading some of The Thirteenth Tale.

For now though, I'm going to finish up the last season of Disney's The Gummi Bears. It's so nice to revisit your childhood shows! I'm glad Disney finally got off their rears and started releasing them to DVD!

First Episode:

FF-Personal Preferences, etc.

Appetizer
What is your favorite kind of cereal?
Oh I drive my husband crazy with this but my favorite thing changes often. I’ll eat a certain cereal I like until I’m sick of it and then I’ll switch. Same thing with candy and chips too.

When was the last time you purchased something for your home, what was it, and in which room did it go?
I bought a clothes rack thingy for the laundry room a few weeks ago.

Salad
What is the funniest commercial you’ve ever seen?
The first one that comes to mind is the turkey commercial where the woman accidentally throws it out the window.

Make up a name for a company by using a spice and an animal (example: Cinnamon Monkey).
Cats Cloves

Fill in the blank: I haven’t ______ since ______.
