New Blogging Challenge

Dewey over on The Hidden Side of the Leaf came up with a neat blogging challenge called the Weekly Geeks. I kind of missed out on the first one but I guess it won’t hurt anyone if I decide to participate now!

The basics:

1. Every week there’ll be a different theme. One week might be “catch up on your library books” week and the next might be “redecorate your blog week” or “organize your challenges” week or “catch up on your reviews” week. It’ll be fairly bookblogcentric, but not exclusively.

2. Everyone who joins agrees that they will try to check each week to see what the theme is, although they DO NOT have to participate each week, only when they feel like it.

3. Everyone who joins is welcome (encouraged, begged!) to send me ideas for weekly themes via email, comments, whatever. The more ideas, the better.

4. She will post the weekly theme each Saturday, but you can check in any time it’s convenient to find out what the theme is.

5. If you post about your progress with that week’s theme in your blog (whether you were wildly successful or didn’t get around to any of it) then you can come back and leave a link to that post in the comments for that theme.

6. The next week, when I announce the new theme, I will also post a mini-carnival-like blurb, with links to everyone’s progress posts. Either way, you’ll have a link to your blog every week you participate, which will hopefully help other participants find their way to your posts.

7. In order to motivate participants to spread the word, anyone who posts promoting this challenge is guaranteed to be able to choose the theme for one of the weeks this year (their choice of week, first come first served). No need to pick a week now; just let me know when you have a theme idea and you can pick your week then. In addition, each participant who writes a promotional post by the end of April will have their name entered in a drawing for a chocolate monkey. If any of your readers sign up and leave a comment saying they heard about it from you, you get two entries for the chocolate monkey. You may never again have the chance to say to your friends and family, “Yeah, the internet gave me this chocolate monkey.”

Ollie Johnston (October 31, 1912 – April 14, 2008)

I heard some incredibly depressing new today. Ollie Johnston, the last of Walt Disney's group of animators the Nine Old Men, died Monday from natural causes. A little bit more magic got sucked out of the world when he went.

I'm Handing Out Awards!

I was presented with that cute little award on my sidebar down there from Alice Teh, Rhinoa, and Melody. I’d like to thank all you ladies again and present you with the above award. I’d also like to give said award to the following as well:

They're Back!!

Well I’m having a great weekend so far! Hubby and I are getting our very own washer and dryer this weekend! I know it’s not something people usually get all excited about but I truly hate washing them at the apartment laundromat.

Anyway! Has anyone every seen Ghost Hunters? I really like this show! I’ve always really loved ghost stories and ghost hunting things anyway but this show is much cooler than I thought it would be. I’m also watching Top Chef right now too. I agree with the judges decision to send that girl home. Nothing she made was memorable, she was in the bottom two twice, and she just wasn’t Top Chef material. No, not because she was a girl because there are at least two females on the show who could honestly win but because she just isn’t that creative. To be honest, I wasn’t too impressed with any of the dishes last night :(

Have you checked out my post on We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story? I’m so happy I finally got it written! I loved the old movie trailer I found for We’re Back (there’s even a deleted scene in it!). Sorry the pictures aren’t of the best quality but I took them with a camera off a TV almost as old as I am. My good TV is connected to the surround sound system DVD player so I had to hook up my VHS /DVD to the old TV for now. Can’t say I’m very pleased with that! Hope you enjoy what I’ve written though!

New Post with Updates!

Well I stumbled over a post today that mentions me! How cool is that?! The owner of Me and You and a Blog Named Boo came to visit my blogs after I wandered around his for awhile. He posts about all kinds of cool things like old TV shows, cartoons and commercials, plus general musings about other things too. You should stop by and check him out if you get a chance!

In other going ons, I’ve almost got my apartment set completely up (I’ll post more pictures whenever I get everything done) although I spent more than a couple of hours scrubbing my new bathroom and hall by hand because of the paint on the floor. It would not come up with a mop so I had to do the Cinderella routine but at least I wasn’t singing!

Thanks for the kind words about the puppies everyone but the remaining one didn’t make it. He held on for a lot longer than anyone thought he would though. Well I’ve cried enough over him and dreamed enough too. It drives my husband crazy (he can't stand it when I cry) but I hate the thought of animals, children, or old people hurt or hurting. We drove past a cemetery the other day and an old man was sitting on a bench beside a headstone and I started bawling my head off lol. Yeah I’m a little nutty, can you tell?

Upcoming Posts:
I swear I’m going to work on a post for Ladytink’s Neverland this week! I watched We’re Back: A Dinosaur’s Story a while back but as you can see never got around to posting anything about it. I know, shame on me!

For The Movieholic and Bibliophile Blog, I’ll be posting about a 1942 movie called For Me and My Gal starring Judy Garland and Gene Kelly in his screen debut. It’s really a wonderful movie! I’ll also be posting about an anthology called My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon with stories from P.N. Elrod, Katie MacAlister, Kelley Armstrong, and several others I really liked. I hate being so behind on posts but since I’m 35 posts in the hole I just don’t see how I’ll ever catch up!
