Musing Mondays: ReReading

Do you ever reread books? Do you have any favorites that you like to reread over and over, maybe once a year? What are they? What do you think you get out of rereading a book? Why do you do it?

I have a few books I have re-read over the years (like Little Women, Harry Potter, The Neverending Story) but for the most part I'd rather read something new to me. The only time a re-read is accepatble to me is when I can no longer remember anything (or only the bare bones) from the story. Usually this is from something I read as a kid or early teenager.

  1. At first I thought you changed your blog! This is your other blog. I don't think I have this one in the Google Reader. I'll add it now.

  2. I've reread the Harry Potters many many times, but usually because I catch something I didn't noticed before every time I read, especially now that the last book has been released.

  3. Can you believe that I haven't finished reading those Harry Potter books?! ;P But yeah, I'll want to reread them some day even though I'm done with them.

  4. I'm stuck at Book 5 of Harry Potter. I don't think I'll be reading the series for a long time. Maybe when I have the mood, I'll do it. :D

I definitely would like to re-read some of the books in my collection.

  5. Melody & Alice- You have simply got to read them! I was in middle school when the fourth one came out and had never even heard of them until a friend let me borrow the first three. I think I sat and read them all in one sitting (lol, something I continued to do whenever a new one came out).

    s. Krishna- I think I only re-read the HPs once before the 5th (?) one came out and I know I caught things that I missed before as well as remembered things I had forgotten.
